Mary (Molly) Kern is an award-winning, professor and organizational psychologist at the Stern School of Business - New York University whose research focuses on negotiation and decision making, group dynamics, and ethical leadership and behavior. She studies the complexities and conflicts that arise when people work together on a project or negotiate a deal, and how these conflicts can be managed, mediated, and resolved.

Molly has published more than 20 articles and book chapters on these topics in top managerial and academic publications, such as the Harvard Business Review and Psychological Science. Her work has appeared in Forbes, Vanity Fair, and The Stanford Social Innovation Review. Her research has received numerous awards including the Abraham J. Briloff Prize in Ethics. Molly’s first book, Negotiating at Home: Essential Steps for Reaching Agreement with Your Kids, co-authored with Terri Kurtzberg came out in June 2020 and has already received praise from Kirkus Reviews.

Molly has taught undergraduate, MBA, graduate, and doctoral courses in leadership, management, power and professional influence, teams, and negotiations. She has taught in the United States, Singapore, and Taiwan. All of her teaching is guided by the idea that a great lecture is meaningless if the student can’t engage with the concepts and use them in other contexts. Molly blends research-based content with experiential learning to enhance each student’s personal return on experience.

Molly is the recipient of the prestigious Baruch College Presidential Excellence Award for Teaching, the Lawrence Zicklin Teaching Excellence Award from the Zicklin School of Business-Baruch College, and the Outstanding Faculty Teaching Award at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
